Project management is the discipline of planning, organising, managing, leading and controlling resources and personnel to achieve specific goals. A project is an endeavor with a defined beginning and end (usually constrained by time, funding/budget or deliverables), undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives typically to bring about beneficial change or added value. The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals and objectives while honoring the constraints. The secondary (and more ambitious) challenge is to optimise the allocation of necessary inputs and integrate them to meet pre-defined objectives.
The more important a project, the more it needs a standardised system to plan and organise it to be completed efficiently. The Project Management training package provides a detailed examination of project management concepts, quality standards and strategies, and goes beyond the basic mechanics of project management and focuses on the people side of getting projects accomplished; such as an understanding of interpersonal dynamics that can make you more effective in leading a project team.
The Project Management Institute’s PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is the industry-leading standard for verifying a project manager’s ability to successfully shepherd projects from beginning to end. This course will prepare you to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close a project using project quality standards as laid out in the fourth edition of the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). This series of courses will address all the objectives needed to pass the updated Project Management Professional Certification 2011.
